Pierre Sommet on French Day and Cardin Exhibition at HdS“Oh these Frenchmen” is the motto of the forthcoming “Silk and Velvet Round Table”  which will take place on Wednesday, 8th January at 18.00 hours at Haus der Seidenkultur (HdS). Pierre Sommet, native Frenchman and book author, commemorates the Day of Franco-German Friendship.
“The author relates this event to the current HdS exhibition which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the presentation of the”Golden Spinning Wheel” to the French couturier Pierre Cardin in Krefeld,” says Jutta Pilat, co-organizer of this evening in the museum in Luisenstraße 15.
And: “Sommet philosophises about the German language and reads amusing and selected tales of words connected to the period in which the French were in the Rhineland and to the textile industry.”
The anthology on this topic “Wie das Croissant nach Paris und die Bulette nach Berlin” (How the croissant came to Paris and the rissole to Berlin) is available as from immediately in the museum shop.

As musical accompaniment, Walter Weitz will present chansons appropriate to the topic. Entrance is free.  Registration under telephone number 02151 936960 will ensure you a place for the new “Silk and Velvet Round Table” in the former Hubert Gotzes Weaving Factory for Ecclesiastical Textiles.
