Silk and More, the Holiday Workshop for Children at Haus der Seidenkultur

“Silk and More” is the title of the summer workshop which Haus der Seidenkultur (HdS) is running for children and youngsters aged 6 to14 years in the last week of the school holidays, from Monday 11th to Friday 15th August from 10.00 to 13.00 hours.

The activities range from working with natural fibres such as flax and cotton, to following the path of the silkworm to a silk thread, or discovering the textile history of the Silk Town during a guided walk. “We provide a different programme each day”, says Christel Naber, museum educationalist, who describes it as an “exciting workshop week with many surprises”.

For example on the “Living Loom” children will be able to actively demonstrate what happens when the warp thread becomes intertwined with the weft thread on the loom and a textile fabric is created

Participation fee for holders of a Family Ticket is 7€ (without 9€) per day; those who book for the whole week receive one day free of charge.
