Silk Culture Krieewelsche Sounds on Summer Street

Haus der Seidenkultur (HdS) turned the “Summer Street” in the vicinity of Friedrich-Ebert Straße 38 into the “Imaginary Silk Route”. “Songs from the Silk and Velvet town literally set the atmosphere around us,“ said HdS press spokesman Dieter Brenner describing the performances of „De Krieewelsche Fente“ and the „Verein für Krefelder Heimatkunde“ (local history association).

Then in the late afternoon the parish orchestra from St. Cyriakus‘ church in Meerbusch-Nierst gave a two-hour concert taking the audience far from Krefeld on a journey from “Berlin to Vienna”. 

The “Silk and Velvet Quiz” and interviews with many illustrious guests, including the Mayor of Krefeld, Gregor Kathstede, rounded off the programme at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 38.  By the way, that is the home of the HdS Chairman, Hansgeorg Hauser, who took the opportunity of the third “Summer-Street” to invite the HdS volunteers to a barbecue.

Amongst other things, the volunteers joined the “Krefeld Family Table”, “because – according to Hauser - the members of Haus der Seidenkultur wanted to demonstrate their close ties with the population of Krefeld“.

 

 

 

 

Tables and benches which Haus der Seidenkultur brought to the “Summer-Street” originated from the huge event on the A40 motorway in which HdS participated three years ago and then acquired the equipment.

Das „Samt- und Seidenquiz“ und viele illustre Talk-Gäste – darunter der Krefelder OB Gregor Kathstede – rundeten das breit gefächerte Programm vor dem Haus Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 38 ab. Dort wohnt übrigens HdS-Vorsitzender Hansgeorg Hauser, der auch die dritte Auflage der „Summer-Street“ zum Anlass nahm, seine ehrenamtlichen Mitstreiter zum Grillfest einzuladen.

„Getafelt“ wurde übrigens u.a. am „Krefelder Familientisch“, „weil – so Hauser - wir damit vom Haus der Seidenkultur die enge Verbundenheit zur Krefelder Bevölkerung ausdrücken wollten“.

 

 

 

 

Tische und Bänke, die das Haus der Seidenkultur zur „Summer-Street“ mitbrachte, stammten vom großen Event auf der A 40, wo das HdS vor drei Jahren mit von der Partie war und das Equipment erwarb.
