Premiere for the HdS film
Town Walk on the Silk Route
Part of the event on 31st January in the museum in Luisenstraße:
To close the successful exhibition "Vom Krähenfeld zur Seidenwelt" (From Crow Field to Silk World) Haus der Seidenkultur (HdS) is hosting the premiere of the film “Town Walk on the Silk Route” on Sunday, 31st January at 11.00 o’clock in the museum in Luisenstraße.
The film – produced in HD quality in the autumn 2015 - tells amongst other things the story of the Krefeld Mennonites and their significance for the Silk and Velvet Town. For example, the minister Christoph Wiebe, will explain which role the king of England played in the town history of Krefeld.
Other actors also have their say such as Klaus Drenk, in the film Master Ponzelar; and town guide and scriptwriter Dieter Brenner, who will conduct us through the closing event of the exhibition. “We would not have been able to realise the production without the support of the Bayer-Uerdingen Photo-Film Club” says Brenner, who expressed his appreciation to the members of the Uerdingen club for their technical assistance and for the loan of the recording equipment.
The musical contribution to the exhibition closing event is being provided by the singer Julia Kaps, who with the song “My Krefeld” has made a name for herself beyond the borders of the Silk Town. Producer Wolfgang Jachtmann will explain how the Krefeld hit came into being.
The event is being staged jointly by Haus der Seidenkultur and the VHS which wants to underline once more the connection between Krefeld today and the former textile town.
