A suitcase of Silk and Velvet
is the title of the new (temporary) exhibition which is being presented from 19.06. to 02.10.2016 in the museum in Luisenstrasse 15.  It tells the history of the Hubert Gotzes weaving factory for ecclesiastical textiles which opened a subsidiary in Chicago at the beginning of the 19th century. Fascinating stories and unique exhibits in the form of textiles and documents show how the Krefeld-based weaving factory was connected to the former branch in the USA, what became of it and what new insights a suitcase from Chicago has given the present museum.
