Result of cooperation with the Hochschule Niederrhein

To combine old weaving techniques at Haus der Seidenkultur (HdS) with new young ideas is one of the future-oriented aims of the museum staff at Luisenstraße 15. In cooperation with the Hochschule Niederrhein a further milestone was established on this path with the Project 20-19.

20-19 is a collection designed by the female students from the Hochschule Niederrhein as part of the project work for the 5th semester. It is connected with the centenary of Bauhaus (1919) and the presentation of the collection to the public in the year 2019 reflects the students’ team name “Team 20” and also the 19th century, the 8 wooden looms at Haus der Seidenkultur originating from that period.

The new style of pattern for HdS is intended to reflect a feeling of modernity, youth and freedom. The pattern in Bauhaus style represents culture combined with modernity. In the  overall context, the products therefore unite old and young.  It is intended to create a connection.  A connection between old and young, antique and modern, Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, museum and technical college as well as art and fashion.
