Point paper designer Dieter Blatt slipped into a suit costing Euros 30000 and full of technology which transferred his motions as a pattern designer, point paper designer, Jacquard card puncher and also the process in the weaving hall to a computer.
“In this way, the former handicraft will stay alive for many years to come,” says HdS spokesperson Dieter Brenner. And Chairman of the Association of Friends Hansgeorg Hauser added: “This project adds to our work and is unique in that the historically important professions are preserved for future generations”. This is expressed by the Japanese title “Mingei” which translated means “Art of the People for the People”. “In this way, the former handicraft will stay alive for many years to come,” says HdS spokesperson Dieter Brenner. A “Town Walk along Silk Threads”, a visit to a nostalgic brewery and also the Dujardin distillery completed the programme which HdS organised for the European partners who communicated with one another in English. HdS translator Cynthia Beißwenger provided a valuable service to ensure that everyone understood one another. “We felt very welcome in Krefeld”, said the project Coordinator Xenophon Zabulis summarising the very productive time spent in the “Town like Silk and Velvet”.
