Silk goes travelling
Summer workshop organised by Haus der Seidenkultur
“Silk goes travelling!” That is the title of the holiday project organised by the „Haus der Seidenkultur“ (HdS), which will take place on each day of the final week of the school holidays from Monday, 26th August to Friday, 30th August from 10.00 to 13.00 hours. It caters for children aged from 6 to 14 years.
Key focus of the workshop is the creative handling of topics surrounding silk.
The wide-ranging programme includes Shibori, the Asian technique of folding and dyeing. “This involves dyeing T-shirts with a pattern which each participant creates individually”, says museum educationalist Christel Naber, who will be present with three other team colleagues.
The participation charge per child per day is EUR 20. This price includes all materials, drinks and a summer snack. Those in possession of a family card pay EUR 15. Those who participate every day receive one day free.
The programme modules are designed so that participants can join in on one day, several days or the entire week. That means there is something different every day. That also applies to the delicious summer snack.
The HdS Holiday activities will be held in “Südbahnhof”, Saumstraße 9. Prior registration is required in order to take part. Call Tel. 510812 for more details.
The “Living Loom” is also part of the Summer Workshop organised by Haus der Seidenkultur. Museum educationalist Christel Naber demonstrates how the warp and weft threads are properly interwoven to produce cloth.
